How it all started: After winning 5 National T.T. Championships in the late sixties, Skip Van Leeuwen had to make a decision about after his racing career - what would he do? He decided to do what he loved best - motorcycles. He began working in the wholesale motorcycle business in 1969 for Buco Helmets. Driving through the 6 Western states, knocking on dealers' doors, Skip was thinking "this is great - I'm getting paid for seeing my friends, and I'd do it for free!" In 1973 Skip started as a manufacturer's rep with Buco Products and Olympia Gloves, and began distributing a few products like MX socks and tie-downs, which we still carry today. 30 years later, Skip's still working at what he loves - motorcycles. He now has two of his sons, Curt and Eric, in the business. The Van Leeuwen commitment to the customer - to have name brand products at competitive prices, with friendly, fast service - still carries on today. We hope you all enjoy the motorcycle business as much as we do, and together we will share another prosperous year! |

Never Give Up! This image of Skip exemplifies the competitive spirit still alive & well today at Van Leeuwen. While leading a race as a novice at famous Ascot Park in California, Skip's throttle cable broke. Rather than D.N.F., Skip simply bare-handed the cable, forcing him to control the bike with just one hand, even over the T.T. jump! And, yes, he won the race! |
